Dell Inspiron One 19 all-in-one turns up at Walmart

Well, here's a bit of an interesting surprise -- Dell's Inspiron One 19 all-in-one desktop, previously only announced for Japan and still not on Dell's US website, kicking back at a Walmart in the US of A. From the looks of it, the specs are more or less in line with what we've heard before, including an 18.5-inch widescreen display, a Pentium Dual Core E5400 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 640GB hard drive, along with a price said to be "around $600." Unfortunately, there's no indication of how widespread availability is right now, but feel free to let us know in comments if you happen to spot one. Verizon Apps Turn Your Droid or Imagio Into an All-In-One FiOS Remote [Verizon]

Verizon's Mobile Remote is an app for Windows Mobile and Android (though for the time being, just the Imagio and Droid) which lets you control your FiOS box locally over Wi-Fi, and share photos from your smartphone. While Verizon's promo video implies that it's a makeshift solution—"if you can't find your remote"—from the looks of the button interface, it's a complete replacement, if you want it to be. Check the App Market or Windows Marketplace on either device to find the app, which is available now; more handsets are coming down the pike, but Verizon won't say which ones. [ Verizon ]

Comic Books Will Look Incredible on the iPad [Ipad]

I'd buy an iPad just to read comic books . Think I'm nuts? I probably am, but see how you feel after this first look at what Panelfly , maker of a popular comic book iPhone app, is building for the iPad. Instead of simply scaling up the existing iPhone app, the folks from Panelfly put their heads together with the Sugarcube dev team and brainstormed. With all the talk of the iPad and how it could restore comic books to their former glory , they realized that they needed to revamp the app and make a version specifically for the iPad. This way they could take full advantage of the device's screen size and provide a new way of purchasing and interacting with the content. The way the Panelfly iPhone app works is that you download the app for free from the app store and then add comics to your library through in-app purchases. Stephen Lynch, CTO and designer at Panelfly, hinted that the company is currently exploring several different purchase models for the iPad version, but was unfortunately unable to elaborate even when I tried to coax out whether there'd be a subscription option. As far as reading and navigating content on the new iPad app goes, let's just say it'll blow us all away. From what Stephen was able to share with me, Panelfly "didn't want to stray too far from the native Apple UI elements, [they] wanted to create something that was [theirs] as well as a platform that gave the content the respect it deserves." And from the looks and sound of it? They've succeeded. Be sure to click on the images in the gallery for the full-sized view. It's worth it. Call me a geeky comic book lover, but apps like this one are what I'm looking forward to when it comes to the iPad. The gadget won't replace my computer, it won't replace my TV, and it won't replace any other device I've got around the house. But it will be what I sit down with when I want to catch up on some comics, magazines, journal articles, and what will be formerly known as "print" media.

I’d Say RoboCop Has an Unfair Advantage in a Tough Guy Challenge [Imagecache]

The Tough Guy Challenge is an annual competition in England that pits its participants against mud, ice, and fire. Sounds terrible—unless you're part man, part machine. But how did RoboCop fare against Superman and the Spartans? From the looks of it, pretty well! The winner of the race, though, was a man named Paul Jones, who made it through the hellish obstacle course in an hour and eighteen minutes. Congratulations, Mr. Jones! You're officially the toughest crazy person in all of Wolverhampton [ The Big Picture ]

Audio Technica AT-HA35i melds headphone amp and iPod dock

Headphone amps may not be a necessity for the average user with a pair of off-the-shelf 'phones or iPod buds, but they're definitely a must-have for a particular subset of users, and Audio Technica is looking to make their lives a bit easier with its new AT-HA35i amp. From the looks of it, it this one doesn't skimp too much where it counts, and includes a D/A converter that supports 192 kHz/24bit audio, along with a max output of 440mWx2, 20-20kHz frequency response and support for 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz sampling. Unlike other amps, however, this one also packs a built-in iPod dock, plus some RCA, S-Video, and digital audio outputs 'round back to connect it to your other audio / video gear. Of course, Audio Technica headphone amps tend not to come cheap, and this is no exception -- look for it to set you back

Cold War Aircraft Used To Seat 120, Now Sleeps Two [Hotels]

If you're thinking to yourself, "that's sort of a small window for a luxury hotel suite," well, you're right. But it's only because this room occupies the entirety of a repurposed Cold War-era East German aircraft. OK, the view isn't anything special: the plane stays grounded outside the Teuge airport in the Netherlands. But the room itself, dubbed the Vliegtuigsuite, is spectacular, including three flat screen TVs, a Blu-ray player, a sauna, and a jacuzzi. Guests have access to the entire plane, from your king-size bed in the back all the way up to the cockpit. My Dutch isn't quite what it should be, but from the looks of things a night in the aircraft will put you back €350. A bit steep, sure, but totally worth it if you've always wanted to get it on in an airplane without worrying about a foot ending up in that weird blue toiletjuice. [ Hotelsuites.nl via WeHeart ]

Asus DR-950: Yet Another eBook Reader That’s More Impressive Than the Kindle [Readers]

Out of nowhere, Asus has announced two promising eBook readers. The first had an OLED screen . And now their second reader, the DR-950, promises less color but still appears to be at least a generation beyond any Kindle. Just look at the screen to case ration of the DR-950—it's within reason, like a painting wrapped with a frame. That's a 9-inch, 1024×768 display in the middle, yet the DR-950 manages to be but .35-inches thick. Inside, the 950 houses anywhere from 2-4GB of storage, an SD card slot, Wi-Fi and HSDPA, the potential for WiMax, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB. The system's software supports text to speech, RSS and a nice mix of codecs including PDF, ePub and HTML. No word on price/availability, but from the looks of it, the DR-950 could belong in our Ultimate eBook Reader Guide . Now the 950 just needs to actually get itself released. [ ElectricPig ]

ASUS Eee Keyboard gets a price and launch date

We saw it clear the FCC a few months back, and retooled slightly shortly thereafter, and it looks like ASUS' Eee Keyboard is now finally nearing an actual release. The latest official word is that it'll roll out sometime in February, and run between $499 and $599. No more last minute spec changes from the looks of it, which means you can expect the usual Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 16GB SSD (upgradeable to 32GB), and a built-in battery that promises to last for four hours -- and, of course, that 5-inch touchscreen. Considering how long this thing has been floating about, however, we'll have to see this one for ourselves to fully believe it. Unibody MacBook dips to $728 educational pricing

As you may recall, we weren't exactly overflowing with praise for Apple's new polycarbonate unibody MacBook in our review a couple of months back. It's not that it's a bad laptop (though it does certainly have some shortcomings), it's just that it didn't quite feel like $999 of laptop. But $728? Now that's a bit more like it. While it's unfortunately not a permanent price drop, or even a sale that's available to everyone, that is the price that at least some students and educators can now snag the entry-level MacBook for. It's not clear how long that price will last though, as the regular educational pricing for the laptop is now apparently $899. [Thanks, iSandy] Update: From the looks of it, this "deal" is limited to the University of Maryland, College Park. Go Terps! Nexus One Dock Doubles Down on the Bluetooth [Cellphones]

Most docks are little more than a plug with some extra plastic, but the Nexus One dock, recently leaked by the FCC, has a bit more. Bluetooth, in particular, is a notable addition in the dock (since Bluetooth is already in the phone). In other words, you're docking a Bluetooth device into another Bluetooth device. Why could this be? Really, there are many explanations—and Bluetooth is cheap enough at this point that it need not be a luxury. Maybe HTC wanted you to have a headset that you kept at home. Maybe Bluetooth was chosen for remote accessories. Maybe Bluetooth just sounds cool to engineers. Regardless, the thing'll have Bluetooth. Oh, and from the looks of it, the dock will hook into your home theater as well. [ FCC via AndroidForums via Engadget ]
